December 8th 2008 CSPCA Overflowing with Abandoned Cats and Dogs
The CSPCA is sounding the alarm: It is overflowing with cats and dogs. At the moment, over 100 cats and over 30 dogs are waiting for a home.
The number of surrendered cats and dogs exceeds by far the number of adoptions thus creating an overflow at the shelter.
The CSPCA is calling on the public to come and adopt a cat or a dog today. “We have a great variety of cats and dogs at the moment including kittens, puppies, adults, mature animals, small dogs, pure breed cats and dogs so people who are looking to make a new addition to their family are very likely to find their ideal companion at our shelter.” states Director of Operations, Marie-Claude Cadieux.
Adoption hours are 12 pm to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Temporary foster homes are also needed. Nineteen cats and 6 dogs are in need of temporary foster. People who wish to offer a temporary home to a cat or a dog can contact the Foster Family Program at 514-735-2711 ext. 2237.
About the SPCA The CSPCA was founded in 1869 making it the oldest humane society in Canada. Its mission is to protect animals against negligence, abuse and exploitation and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves by ensuring their well-being. Raising public awareness and helping develop compassion for all living creatures is also part of its mandate. Every year, the CSPCA finds homes for over 10,000 animals, making it the shelter with the highest number of adoptions in Canada.
