THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

Our employees and volunteers are there to advise you when adopting an animal. They will help you understand all that is involved when taking on the responsibility of bringing home an animal companion.

  • First, you must understand that having a pet costs money: pet food, visits to the veterinarian, litter, care products, and so on.
  • Before adopting an animal, you must know your animal's life expectancy and whether your lifestyle allows you to take care of a pet continuously.
  • You must also realise that your new pet will need time to adapt to his or her new surroundings; it is likely that your pet will cause damages during this period.
  • Last, you must accept that an animal's behavior will forever be like that of an
    18-month-old child.

Adoption hours are from 12 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the Montreal and Laval shelters weekdays except on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m to 5.pm

If you wish to adopt an animal, you must come to the S.P.C.A. and see the animals we offer for adoption. We cannot reserve pets for you. Since there are many people visiting our location, the animals we have change regularly. To help you find the animal that best corresponds to your needs, we recommend that you visit our locations often.
