THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

Guided by the humane ethic, it is the mission of the Canadian S.P.C.A. to:

  • Protect animals against negligence, abuse, and exploitation;
  • Represent their interests and ensure their well-being;
  • Raise public awareness and help develop compassion for all living creatures.

Our role is to prevent cruelty against animals through a number of actions which profit both animals and humans. We help prevent animal cruelty by doing the following:

  • Receiving nearly 24 000 abandoned animals each year;
  • Educating the public about the benefits of sterilisation;
  • Advising people when adopting animals;
  • Preventing impulsive adoption

[ The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. ]
